Can Type Dance In Space?
I have an experimental streak—my favorite proposition is “what would happen if…”
I am often at my best when working manually, making things with my hands. For this Oakland-based dance company specializing in movement suspended in space, I developed a kinetic identity based on a typographic mobile.
Role: Creative direction, branding design, motion graphics
To create the typography for the Cielo wordmark, I built a typographic mobile, then shot stills and video of it rotating in space. I brought the footage into After Effects and rotoscoped it to remove the structure of the mobile, and composited with footage of a colorized sky.
